To help Medicare beneficiaries cope with serious physical or cognitive limitations and reduce out-of-pocket costs, researchers have developed a proposal to provide up to 20 hours a week of personal care or equivalent long-term services and supports. As described in a Health Affairs Blog post by Karen Davis and Amber Willink of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Cathy Schoen of New York University, the proposal also features new integrated care organizations that would be accountable for coordinating medical care and support services.
