In a new study published in Healthcare Financial Management (July 2015), Commonwealth Fund-supported researcher Michael Bailit and colleagues cull lessons from 20 initiatives designed to increase the value of health care that patients receive. In each program, some portion of physicians’ compensation was tied to factors other than productivity, including performance on measures of clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and access to care.
