As a reminder, WhyNotTheBest.org, the free benchmarking tool for health care professionals, is now being run by IPRO, a nonprofit health care quality improvement and evaluation organization based in New York. The site has newly updated data from Hospital Compare. This major quarterly update includes data on:
- incidence of six different types of health care-associated infections
- average Medicare payments to providers
- timely and effective stroke care
- blood clot prevention and treatment
- influenza and pneumonia vaccination rates
- timely emergency care
- use of health information technology
- rates of early elective deliveries
- patients’ experiences
- recommended care for heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgery.
