Speaking at the 2014 Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons graduation ceremony, Commonwealth Fund President David Blumenthal, M.D., discussed the many intellectual and emotional rewards of a career in medicine, as well as the challenges. In a new blog post, Dr. Blumenthal points out that, in addition to keeping up with the explosion of scientific knowledge, today’s physicians need to be stewards of the health care dollar. He also highlights the “data liberation” trend that may help physicians manage this responsibility.
