Shao-Chee Sim

Evaluation Officer, Wallace Foundation

Shao-Chee Sim, Ph.D., is currently evaluation officer at the Wallace Foundation. He assists in the efforts of the Evaluation Department to guide the Foundation's learning opportunities in the field with regard to out-of-school time activities for children and youth. Dr. Sim was most recently Director of Research at the Asian American Federation of New York, where he led such studies as an economic impact assessment of the September 11 attacks on Chinatown, a mental health needs assessment of victim families of Asian descent and vulnerable groups in Chinatown, and a study of immigrants' health care access experience. Prior to joining the Federation, he held research positions at Columbia University and the University of Texas at Austin. Over the years, he has also involved with a number of Chinatown immigrant rights, voter education, and social service organizations. Sim holds a Ph.D. in public policy from the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Since 2001, he has served as an adjunct professor at the Robert Milano Graduate School of Urban Policy and Management of the New School University.
