Sarah Boden’s reporting will focus on issues surrounding dementia patients in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, which is one of the most elderly metropolitans in the United States. Areas of focus will be how those with dementia are often times infantilized and dismissed in society. As some people may live decades after an initial diagnosis, Boden also wants to examine the financial impacts associated with dementia and how those with long-term care insurance fare compared to those without. Boden will look to produce four to six in-depth features on these issues, each consisting of a sound-rich audio story and 1,000-2,000 word digital versions.
