Robert Galvin, M.D., is the chief executive officer of Equity Healthcare, a health care management company that manages health costs for firms owned by private equity companies. Equity Healthcare is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Blackstone Group, where Dr. Galvin is an operating partner. Before joining Blackstone, Dr. Galvin was a senior executive at General Electric and served as chief medical officer. Prior to GE he practiced as a general internist in the Boston area. Dr. Galvin has focused his work on employer-sponsored insurance, quality measurement, and payment reform, and has been published in the Harvard Business Review, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and Health Affairs. He was cofounder of the Leapfrog Group and also founder of Bridges to Excellence/PROMETHEUS and Catalyze Payment Reform. Dr. Galvin is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and professor adjunct of medicine and health policy at Yale University.
