Pius Matter is a Ph.D. student and teaching assistant to Professor Robert E. Leu at the Department of Economics of the University of Bern. His research interests include mainly empirical issues in the field of health economics. In his ongoing dissertation, he analyzes risk aversion based on the individual's deductible choice in health insurance, treatment intensity in Swiss primary care, and regional variation of musculoskeletal disorders with respect to surgery rates and length of stays.
