Ms. Torda is responsible for NCQA's efforts to develop new ways of evaluating the quality of health care provided by organizations and professionals. Her current focus is on ways to evaluate care at the provider level. Under her direction, NCQA has developed provider recognition programs in diabetes and a cardiovascular care. Other major initiatives under her direction have included: developing consumer-friendly health report cards; developing performance-based accreditation of managed care organizations that takes into account organizations' HEDIS results; developing accreditation and certification programs for disease management programs; and developing accreditation for preferred provider organizations. Prior to coming to NCQA in 1995, Ms. Torda was Director of Health and Social Policy at Families USA, a consumer advocacy group focusing on health reform issues. Ms. Torda has completed all requirements except the dissertation for a Ph.D. in History from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
