Lisa M. Kern, M.D., M.P.H., is associate professor of public health and medicine, and the Nanette Laitman Clinical Scholar in Public Health-Clinical Evaluation at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Kern is an expert in the evaluation of interventions designed to improve ambulatory care quality. One of these interventions is health information technology, which includes electronic health records and other electronic methods for managing and exchanging clinical data. She also studies related interventions, such the patient-centered medical home. She is deputy director of the Health Information Technology Evaluation Collaborative (HITEC), an academic collaborative that has been awarded nearly $11 million to evaluate New York State’s investment in health IT.
