Leah G. Pope, Ph.D., is a research scientist and assistant professor of clinical behavioral medicine at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University’s Department of Psychiatry. As an anthropologist and mental health services researcher, her work is primarily focused on the intersection of the mental health and criminal justice systems and the development of police-based and alternative crisis response services for people with serious mental illnesses. Pope earned a Ph.D. in applied anthropology from Teachers College, Columbia University.
