Kay Johnson has been a leader in child health policy for 25 years. Since 1984, she has been active in Medicaid and children's health policy at the federal level and served as an advisor to 40 state health and/or Medicaid agencies. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of maternal and child health issues. Ms. Johnson is a Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Dartmouth Medical School and a Lecturer in Health Policy at the George Washington University. She also is president of Johnson Policy Consulting. Formerly, she was the national policy director at march of Dimes; and a senior staff member at the Children's Defense Fund. Prior to her policy work, Ms. Johnson trained as an educational child development specialist and provided direct services to low-income families in child care and child development programs from 1975–1983.
