Dr. Kate Lapane is an associate professor of medical science in the Department of Community Health within the Brown Medical School and serves as the graduate program director for Health Services Research. As a geriatric pharmacoepidemiologist, she evaluates both the beneficial and unintended effects of medications in long term care populations, as well as describing the role of contextual factors on the use of medications. Her research evaluates drug utilization in marginalized populations, the role of health information technology to improve patient-centered pharmacy based care, and methods to improve patient safety related to medication use.
