Juliana S. Chessin, M.S., is the director for grants management for the Commonwealth Fund. In addition to overseeing the Fund’s grants management system, she also serves as an internal grants consultant across the Fund’s departments and programs, helping to ensure efficient and effective grantmaking operations. Ms. Chessin comes to the Fund from the Helmsley Charitable Trust, where she was a grants manager. Prior to her time at Helmsley, she was as an occupational therapist at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s (now Mount Sinai Morningside), where she provided patients with rehabilitative medical services. Before that, she was associate director for the National Program at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), for which she planned events and managed marketing campaigns and partnerships to ensure member engagement and wide dissemination of CFR research. She was also responsible for program strategy, CRM database management, and staff training. Ms. Chessin graduated with a B.A. in history from Colby College and has an M.S. in occupational therapy from Springfield College. In 2018, she completed an advanced certificate in public health at the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy.
