Julia Berenson, M.Sc., is the former senior research associate to the Commonwealth Fund's executive vice president for programs. In this role, she provided written, analytical, and research support to the executive vice president for programs and program staff. She also carried out administrative tasks for the executive vice president for programs and provides training and administrative assistance to program support staff as needed.
Before joining the Fund, Ms. Berenson was a program associate at the Center for Health Care Strategies, where she worked on initiatives that enhance the organization, financing, and delivery of health systems aimed at improving the quality of care and reducing disparities among Medicaid beneficiaries. She contributed in particular to policy research and technical assistance that arm states and health plans with resources to improve the quality of care in primary care practices serving a large volume of Medicaid patients. Previously, she conducted research in global health, focusing on infectious diseases and health disparities. Ms. Berenson holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and received a master's degree in health policy, planning, and financing jointly awarded by the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
