JoAnn Lamphere, Dr.P.H., is a principal in the Washington, D.C., office of Health Management Associates. She consults with private sector organizations that are stimulating improvements in health care delivery, and assists clients in designing approaches for offering quality services to new and complex population groups, often through managed care. Dr. Lamphere is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Maryland, a noted author, and a frequent lecturer and trainer. She came to HMA from AARP, where she served as state government affairs director for the Health and Long-Term Care team. Previously, Dr. Lamphere served six years as a senior consultant with the Lewin Group, directing research projects and analyses designed to improve coverage and health care payment policies at the national and state levels. She earned her doctorate in public health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
