Joan Alker, M. Phil., is the executive director and cofounder of the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families, and a research professor at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. She is the lead author of an annual report on children’s health coverage status and an expert on Medicaid section 1115 demonstration policy. Alker holds a master of philosophy in politics from St. Antony’s College, Oxford University and an A.B. in political science from Bryn Mawr College.
