Jeffry Haber, Ph.D., is senior director for finance at the Commonwealth Fund. He is responsible for managing all aspects of the foundation’s accounting function, preparing tax returns, carrying out the decisions of the Board of Directors’ Investment Committee, representing the Fund on professional committees, and working with program staff on budget issues. Haber, a tenured professor at Iona University, also teaches accounting courses to undergraduate and graduate students within the LaPenta School of Business. He has published numerous articles on investments, anti-money-laundering and terrorist financing, ethics, and bankruptcy prediction, among others, and is author of the book Accounting Demystified. Haber is active in committees of the New York State Society of C.P.A.s.; a member of the Foundation Financial Officers Group and chair of its Research Committee; and a board member and treasurer of Spoons Across America. Haber holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in accounting from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
