Elliot Wakeam

Elliot Wakeam, M.D., M.P.H., is currently completing his general surgery residency in Toronto and plans to pursue a fellowship in general thoracic surgery. Dr. Wakeam earned his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and also completed an M.P.H. degree at the Harvard School of Public Health, and a research fellowship at the Center for Surgery and Public Health at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. While at Brigham and Women's, he was mentored by Joel Weissman, Ph.D., and Samuel Finlayson, M.D., M.P.H. His research interests include surgical safety, specifically as it relates to patient rescue in the postoperative period, as well as risk-resource matching to optimize the value and safety of surgical care.
