Barbara Wirth, M.D., M.S., is program manager at the National Academy for State Health Policy. She is responsible for developing and implementing projects to advance best practices in health system performance. Her current projects focus on medical homes, health information technology, and promoting federal–state collaboration on efforts to improve health system performance. She received her medical degree and undergraduate degree from McGill University and a master’s degree in health policy and management from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.
