This grant will fund the production of a curriculum for an elective one-semester class, Health Literacy Through Community Storytelling, that will take place during the school week in D.C. public and charter high schools. The template for this curriculum can then be used to expand to other schools as the Urban Health Media Project (UHMP) ramps up partnerships in the future. The curriculum will be designed and developed to meet the standards of the District of Columbia Public and Charter School systems as well as UHMP’s goal of teaching students how to write about the health and social issues affecting their communities.
