This project will build upon a grant recently funded by the Russell Sage Foundation, to track how recent policy changes impact people and their communities in two non-metropolitan counties in each of four states – North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Using publicly available, aggregate (de-identified) information of county residents who are enrolled in federal and state funded health programs, the team will document the effects of unfolding policy shifts. Interviews with residents, health care providers, and community leaders will describe how the policy changes are affecting people and communities in the next year. The Fund’s support will expand the scope of the RSF project to allow more interviews of Medicaid beneficiaries, people who are eligible for Medicaid but not currently enrolled, people who are at risk of losing Medicaid eligibility because of proposed policy changes, and health care providers.
