The project will aim to identify policies for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) and state Medicaid programs to support effective implementation of outcomes-driven maternity payment models and promote the dissemination of best practices and implementation resources. To accomplish this, the project will: 1) conduct regular literature reviews, coordinate with external stakeholder groups, and conduct key informant interviews; 2) convene an expert panel of maternity care delivery system and payment experts to discuss strategies to encourage value-based payment adoption for maternity care; 3) collate findings, tools, and resources identified by the technical panel process and research to develop an online repository to support dissemination of best practices to advance value-based maternity care; and 4) facilitate shared learning and dissemination through the Health Care Transformation Task Force’s work groups and share recommendations directly with CMMI and other policymakers.
