The project will provide examples and practical tools, strategies, and ideas state policymakers can implement to improve the accessibility of telematernity services in Medicaid. The project team will create two different deliverables to achieve this goal: 1) A paper with case studies comparing several state approaches to implementing and supporting telematernity in Medicaid. The case studies will be developed through an environmental scan of telematernity services in Medicaid as well from interviews with representatives from select Medicaid programs. 2) A toolkit for state policymakers on how to address the current challenges of implementing telematernity in Medicaid. The toolkit will be developed by conducting a literature review on telematernity care that will inform several questions regarding the value of telematernity care to patients, and providers and programs; its efficacy in addressing disparities; and policy barriers or challenges to its implementation.
