The program provides fellowships to educate journalists on issues of aging. The fellowships begin with a daylong preconference workshop and attendance at the IAGG World Congress. This meeting has not been hosted in the U.S. since 1985; it is the largest aging‐related conference in the world. More than 6,000 people will be in attendance to offer journalists expertise throughout the field. Seventeen new Journalists in Aging Fellowships will be funded to attend the conference, and eleven journalists from previous fellowship cohorts will also attend. GSA and New America Media would also include a session of our choosing (potentially led by staff or grantees) at the pre‐conference training. Three 2017 fellows and one returning fellow will be specifically funded by the Commonwealth Fund.
