This authorization will support further development and maintenance of the five‐foundation playbook and related activities. It is requested at this time for three reasons. First, the authorization will fill a gap in funding for IHI between December 2016, when this phase concludes, and April 2017, when the Fund Board next meets and could approve a new proposal. Second, given the fast‐paced development of the playbook website, we cannot be certain of its future scope and requirements until late fall, just prior to completion of the initial version. Third, the authorization provides flexibility for the Health Care Delivery System Reform team to develop a concrete proposal with the IHI team and our foundation partners to identify new content, enhance site functionality, and collect user feedback. The requested funding will additionally support implementation of strategies to maximize the playbook’s outreach and effectiveness, as well as potential participation in a key forum such as the Aspen Institute’s Spotlight Health conference.
