This project will enable the Funders Forum on Accountable Health to develop a framework and metrics on health equity, including equitably serving racial/ethnic minorities; improving health and reducing disparities; and addressing health-related social needs. George Washington University (GW) will conduct a comprehensive review of the literature on health equity measures and explore the data sources that potentially can evaluate health equity in Accountable Community for Health (ACH) initiatives. They will augment the literature review with targeted reviews of select ACH sites. GW will then convene experts to participate in a technical advisory group to review their findings, help define the health equity framework, and provide feedback on proposed metrics for evaluation. GW will prepare a report with recommended metrics and data sources, along with potential or actual use cases. As part of this project, the Commonwealth Fund will also officially become members of the Funders Forum, which will enable it to build new partnerships for future collaboration.
