Kris Putnam-Walkerly will work in partnership with Commonwealth Fund staff to conduct an assessment and strategic planning process for The Commonwealth Fund Mongan Fellowship, the aims of which are: to review program impact thus far, particularly since the change in program goals in 2012; assess the current need for a fellowship training program focused on transforming health care delivery systems for vulnerable populations; reaffirm or refine program goals; and develop revised program strategy and content to achieve goals and desired outcomes. To this end, the consultant will conduct up to 50 interviews with relevant stakeholders, including Commonwealth Fund and Harvard staff, Fellowship alumni, and health care leaders; conduct a survey of fellowship alumni; conduct an environmental scan of related training programs; and facilitate an advisory group meeting to review findings and recommendations. This project will provide support to Commonwealth Fund staff in gathering inputs for developing an effective strategic plan for the Mongan Fellowship, and will begin to engage relevant stakeholders in the event major changes to the program are proposed.
