Over the period of this two-year grant, 10 reporters will evaluate a local, regional, or national health system issue. Stories can be investigative, consumer-based, or explanatory. Guidance to reporters is provided by AHCJ through seminars, conference calls, email consultations, an editor/mentor, exposure to various topic experts, and connection with the broader health journalist network at AHCJ’s annual conferences and workshops.
The stories and projects that the fellows have produced have helped the public understand the important health care changes of the past several years. The journalists receive important training and support that assists them in their fellowship project and their overall careers.
