Advancing Health Equity Supplement Issue in Health Equity Journal

This grant will disseminate the work of the Fund's Advancing Health Equity (AHE) program and its grantees in a customized supplement for the Health Equity journal. The supplement will be complemented by an expert roundtable, whose output also will be published. Both the supplement and output of the roundtable will be published in February 2023, during Black History Month, and be available in print and online (open access). The supplement will include work by five to 10 AHE grantees’ work on seven to 10 topics. It will include a preface from AHE’s vice president, Laurie Zephyrin. It also may include an executive summary, call-to-action summary, recommendations, and supporting documents/articles. The Fund will provide the content and the journal staff will be responsible for the copyediting and layout, graphic design, and obtaining of permissions as needed. This work also will produce an expert roundtable for an opportunity to discuss critical issues around health equity. Fund staff will create the agenda and identify priority topics. The roundtable will be moderated by Fund staff or Health Equity editor-in-chief Monica McLemore and include three to four speakers. The speakers would include Fund grantees, researchers, and/or other experts. The journal staff will organize logistics for the roundtable (setting up the virtual conference call, recording, transcription, and communication with speakers to review the transcription before publication). The transcribed roundtable will be published in print and online as part of the supplement.
