Jennifer Edwards

Jennifer N. Edwards, Dr.PH., is a former senior program officer for the State Innovations program. In this role, she was responsible for spearheading efforts to increase the understanding of health system performance among state health care and policy leaders; to identify and assess public and private sector policies with the potential to improve state health system performance; and to disseminate promising approaches. Dr. Edwards is the former deputy director of the Fund's Task Force on the Future of Health Insurance as well as the former director of the Health Care in New York City Program. Before joining the Fund, Dr. Edwards was director of the Child Health Initiative at the Georgia Health Policy Center, Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, at Georgia State University, where she evaluated Georgia's Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids programs, with emphasis on access and quality of care for vulnerable populations. Her work included evaluating and improving child care and child welfare policy in Georgia. Prior to that, Dr. Edwards held positions at the Massachusetts Rate Setting Commission, Mass. General Hospital, and the Ford Motor Company. She holds a doctor of public health degree from the Pew Doctoral Program in Health Policy from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She holds a master of health science in health finance and management from John Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health and a bachelor's degree in health and society from Brown University.
